REnew Pacific is a $75m investment by the Australian Infrastructure Financing Facility for the Pacific (AIFFP) under the Pacific Climate Infrastructure Financing Partnership (PCIFP), that will help deliver off-grid and community scale renewable energy in remote and rural parts of the Pacific. The goal of REnew Pacific is to demonstrate Australia's role as a climate infrastructure partner of choice in the Pacific, by increasing access to affordable and reliable electricity, creating opportunities for improved human development. 

Purpose of Position
Reporting to the Partnerships and Portfolio Lead, the Business and Investment Adviser will oversee business model and financial sustainability across the program pipeline of off-grid renewable energy projects in the Pacific region and nurture the program’s co-finance network of investors and donors in close coordination with DFAT.

The role is a full-time role.

Primary Responsibilities

Oversee and advise on business models and financial sustainability of the REnew Pacific pipeline of off-grid renewable energy projects.Develop the program’s co-finance network of investors and donors in close coordination with DFAT.Keep abreast of trends in development and climate finance and conduct training and information sessions for REnew and program partner staffDevelop a Co-finance Strategy for the program, consulting with potential investors, donors, partner governments and DFATRepresent REnew at finance-related and other events

Reporting Requirements

This role reports to the Partnerships and Portfolio Lead. Reporting requirements include:

Attendance at team meetings and other requested meetings;Regular (minimum of monthly) one to one meetings with the Partnerships and Portfolio Lead;Reporting to the Team Leader during Partnerships and Portfolio Lead absences.

Minimum Education and Experience Required
Qualifications

A degree in a relevant field (for example, business, finance, audit, or international development related discipline)

Skills and Experience

Experience working in finance in the business environment. Experience in the Pacific region highly desirable. Experience working in the off-grid renewable energy sector desirable.Experience in co-finance and investment in the international development sector. Experience with climate finance desirable.Experience working with Australian Government and/or DFAT-funded programs.Excellent skills in networking.Strong cross-cultural, interpersonal, communication, stakeholder engagement and capacity strengthening skills
