Repacking Pharmacy Technician

Job Details Assists the pharmacist in performing drug distribution duties and performs all attendant duties required for the functioning of the department. DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES: Performs necessary drug distribution Prepares labels for parenteral products prepared in Pharmacy. Prepares narcotics and controlled substances under the supervision of a pharmacist. Delivers same to nursing units. Unpacks and stores supplies and verifies items against packing slips. Delivers supplies or medications to various hospital departments as needed. Fills floor stocks, delivers medication cassettes and completes Cardiac Arrest Carts. Performs all attendant duties required for proper functioning of the department Takes inventory of stock when required. Prepares simple solutions of bacteriocidal solutions, various solutions of alcohol, disinfectants, green soap, etc. Accurately keeps statistics. Performs miscellaneous duties such as keeping work area clean and orderly, cleaning equipment. Assists the pharmacist in performing duties under his/her supervision Under the direction of a pharmacist, assists in filling prescriptions. Under the direction of a pharmacist, fills patient cassettes with pharmaceuticals as specified. Under the direction of a pharmacist, prepacks oral medications. Maintains a running inventory of controlled substances under the supervision of a pharmacist. Provides care that reflects an understanding of individual cultural and religious diversities and needs as well as recognition of patient rights Creates and maintains an atmosphere of courtesy and respect toward patients, families, and staff. Other functions and performance indicators Maintains a consistent pattern of attendance. Periodically reviews nursing units to ensure proper storage and use of drugs. Adheres to hospital/department dress code. Arrives to work appropriately dressed, well-groomed and neat. Demonstrates good personal habits. Utilizes principles of infection control and standard precaution in the performance of patient care activities. Conforms to policies governing patient abuse, patient rights, and confidentiality of information. Performs all related duties as required and unrelated duties as requested during emergencies. *Adheres to all organizational policies and procedures POSITION REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS: Education: High School diploma or G.E.D. Licensure/Certification: Current valid national certification as pharmacy technician or licensed pharmacy intern. Physical Requirements: General computer skills and ability to operate telephone. Position requires standing on feet for long periods of time. Ability to bend, stretch, reach, handle/finger delicate objects. Excellent verbal and auditory skills required for communicating clearly and effectively with physicians, families, care team members, other hospital departments. Must be able to move and unpack cartons and cases as required (30 - 50lbs). Experience: Minimum 2 years’ experience working in a repacking pharmacy preferred ORGANIZATIONAL STANDARDS TEAMWORK: Works in collaboration with others by building team spirit. This range serves as a good faith estimate and actual pay will encompass a number of factors, including a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies and experience. The salary range or rate listed does not include any bonuses/incentive, or other forms of compensation that may be applicable to this job and it does not include the value of benefits.
