JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
Under close and/or directive supervision, with little latitude for planning or laying out of working details, must be able to perform simple mechanical work involved in the inspection, repair, and installation of mechanical equipment in nuclear-generating stations, and be qualified to do the following and related work as assigned:
Install and maintain simple mechanical equipment, such as small piping layouts, valves, fuel pumps, small centrifugal pumps, steam traps, low-pressure heat exchange apparatus, control rod drives, building fixtures, tanks, air removal equipment, ejectors, etc.
Perform simple operations in connection with general maintenance work on reactors, boilers, turbines, pumps, condensers, heat exchange equipment, cooling towers, piping, draft equipment, buildings, and other related mechanical equipment.
Perform simple operations requiring little precision, with machine tools, such as drill presses, pipe, and bolt threading machines, band saws, punch or shears, etc.
Perform routine tasks such as packing valves and pumps, replace gauge glasses, cut gaskets, reseat valves, form simple tools, fabricate metal parts, etc.
Diagnose and correct minor mechanical trouble of secondary equipment not involving continuity of service.
Inspect and maintain firefighting apparatus.
Direct work of helper and assist other mechanics.
Assist in general operation and maintenance during unusual or emergency periods.
Prepare minor reports.
Perform necessary housekeeping as per applicable Nuclear Regulatory Commission endorsed regulations and standards.
Comply with established procedures and with rules of Code of Federal Regulations, Nuclear Regulatory Commission regulatory guides, National Standards, and other regulatory agencies.
EXPERIENCE AND SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
Must have worked at least one year in mechanical work.
Must have at least one year's experience in mechanical or related work.
Have a general knowledge of mechanical work such as piping and accessory installation, reactor, boiler, turbine and pump maintenance, bench, and maintenance work, etc.
Be familiar with elementary mechanical principles.
Be familiar with the strength and use of ropes, chains, cables, etc., as used in rigging.
Gain proficiency in the use of and nomenclature of tools and equipment ordinarily used.
Be familiar with the operation, and function of reactors, boilers, turbines, pumps, heaters, steam traps, piping systems, regulators and mechanical control devices, etc.
Be thoroughly familiar with Company's electrical and mechanical tagging rules.
Have the ability to understand and perform semi‑routine operations of average complexity and variety where standard methods of procedure are available.
Know Company's safety rules, and be able to administer all approved methods of resuscitation, and be able to render practical first aid.
Know the location of, and be able to operate, all of the firefighting equipment. Know what kind of equipment to use on electrical, oil, and other fires.
PERSONAL QUALIFICATIONS:
Be particularly alert in observing hazards and avoiding accidents.
Be willing to attend and take part in safety meetings.
Be willing to work under unusual surroundings, as well as the normal working conditions pertaining to this job.
Be willing to work irregular or extra hours as required.
Be able to receive and transmit orders and instructions in such a manner as to inspire respect and confidence of both superiors and subordinates.
Have a temperament suited to jobs where manual dexterity, precision, and patience are particularly essential.
Be especially neat, clean, and orderly in work and person.
Understand the importance of always rendering and maintaining first-class, courteous service to all customers.

EEI Testing:
One way that Entergy has found to identify and assess the abilities and skills needed for certain jobs is through pre-employment testing.
