Replacement Custodian, Seniors
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Under the supervision of the Director of Programming, the Replacement Custodial is to be responsible for the cleanliness and maintenance of lobbies, offices, storerooms, classrooms, bathrooms, hallways, kitchen, and kitchen equipment, dining rooms and garbage disposal areas of senior sites in need of custodial assistance. Specific duties include: + Sweep, mop, wax and vacuum all floors and stairways. Move and replace the furniture as necessary; + Sweep and mop the kitchen and any food prep areas daily and as directed; + Wash dining room tables after meal service; + Disinfect high-touch areas such as door knobs, etc.; + Wash, wet sponge and dust walls; + Scrub handrails, baseboards, room corners and stair landings; + Empty wastebaskets and garbage cans; + Break down boxes and take out the garbage as scheduled; + Remove and clean blinds or shades if applicable; + Clean and polish furniture and metalwork; + Clean mirrors and glass in bookcases and doors; + Dust and replace light bulbs, fuses, emergency lights and light fixtures; + Replace toilet paper, towel and other supplies; + Responsible to clean sidewalk, entryway and back exit of rubbish and of any snow each day; + Wash down sidewalks and lower side of buildings; + May be required to monitor the front door and sign-in desk as needed; + Assist with receiving and storage of deliveries; + Ensure that exterior doors are locked and secured and center is prepared for closing if applicable; + Perform other duties as required by the supervisor of the site; + Must be willing to travel to different locations needing assistance within the Senior’s Division. COMPETENCIES + Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time. + Employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds such as furniture and cleaning equipment. + Ability to work effectively as a team. + Ability to work independently. + The employee may frequently work with toxic or caustic chemicals such as degreasers, cleaning products and sprays. + Employee must be able to adhere to a cleaning schedule. + While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; and talk or hear. + Commitment to organization’s mission, vision and values + Ability to understand the concepts of institutional and structural racism and bias and their impact on underserved and underrepresented communities + Have a commitment to supporting communities who have experienced systemic oppression and bias (e.g. people of color, LGBTQ+ people, immigrants, justice-involved persons, etc.) EDUCATIONAL and EXPERIENCE Some High School coursework; High School Diploma or equivalent preferred. Experience is preferred, but not necessary.
