Replenishment Manager

Job Description:

What is the role?

The Manager of Replenishment will manage the Hardlines inventory with accountability for obtaining wholesale budgeted objectives including shipment volumes, profits and inventory turns.  The incumbent must understand consumer and store needs working closely with peers in Merch Planning & Allocation, Merchandising, Marketing, Supply Chain, IT and Operations. Overseeing team of Replenishment Analysts.

What will you do?

Manage, develop, and mentor team of Replenishment Analysts. Provide training, guidance, and assistance on all regular replenishment tasks. Recruit as required.Ensure RA’s maintain inventory levels of assigned products in Corporate stores and Company DCs in accordance with negotiated terms and Pet Valu’s inventory management systems to support service level targets. Ensure RA’s assess the most economic buying options and freight considerations when placing reorders and adjust standard practices, as necessary.  Ensure that Pet Valu does not incur unnecessary holding costs and uneconomical inbound freight or transshipment costs when arranging for outside freight.Review marketing plans and oversee purchases of stock required for all seasonal programs and planned promotions. Promptly communicate inventory concerns to the Category Manager and Director of Replenishment.Ensure all price increases are logged and cost change templates are prepared and forwarded to the necessary parties a minimum of 14 days in advance of the cost increase effective date. Review completed cost change templates for accuracy and adherence to established guidelines. Assist in following up with vendors on late shipments and short-shipped orders.  Advise the Category Manager and Director of Replenishment of anticipated shorts and cause in advance of shorting.Communicate with all affected parties, including DCs and stores, in relation to new product introductions, changes to existing products and special promotions.  All pertinent information should be distributed in a timely manner via available means to other areas within Merch Planning and Allocation and other departments within the company (Merchandising, Marketing, Logistics, Operations, Accounts Payable, stores etc.) in regards to promotions, purchase orders, new and discontinued items, status changes and other day-to-day matters.Execution/assistance in various Replenishment operations issues. Assist in other departmental projects (IT, Store Ops, A/P, CSR, Finance, Mgmt).Monitor excess inventory, provide recommendation on distribution and/or clearance programs.Analysis & report generation for management.Develop, improve & document various Replenishment processes & procedures.

What will you need to succeed?

Education and Experience

Graduate of a quantitative and analytical post-secondary programA minimum of four years of supply chain management experience with a progressive, demanding work environmentWorking with ERP systems an asset, preferred MS Dynamics NAVA minimum of two years supervisory experienceExperience or familiarity with JDA and MS Dynamics NAV is preferred

Strong leadership; excellent people management skillsAble to develop and implement “best practices” in inventory managementDemonstrated analytical and logical problem-solving skillsAbility to quickly learn and adapt to various proprietary Company softwareHighly motivated, flexible, detail-oriented team playerStrong written and verbal communication skillsStrong organizational skillsEnrolment in or completion of APICS, PMAC, or CITT is desirableAdvanced proficiency in MS Access, Word and OutlookMS Excel skills to include proficiency with pivot tables and vlookups
