WREG in Memphis, Tennessee is looking for an aggressive Reporter who will research, investigate and enterprise a news story on a daily basis.

Reporter will work with a photojournalist each day to news gather, report and go live for the assigned newscast.  Must be able to collaborate with the assigned photographer to producer solid reports daily.

 

Arranges interviews with people who can provide information about storiesResearches and analyzes background information related to news stories to be able to provide complete and accurate informationGathers information about events through research, interviews, experience or attendance at political, news, sports, artistic, social or other functionsPitches stories to news managers and news producers which are relevant to the local communityReceives assignments and evaluates leads and tips to develop story ideasRevises work to meet editorial approval or to fit time requirementsProduces, edits  and presents reports for all platformsEnsures that all content meets company standards for journalistic integrity and production qualityWrites stories for the web and other eMedia platformsInteracts with viewers/users on social media sitesPerforms special projects and other duties as assignedBachelor’s degree in Broadcast Journalism, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and work-related experienceFluency in EnglishExcellent communication skills, both oral and written with the ability to ad lib when requiredMinimum two years’ experience in news reporting (Depending on market size)Superior on-air presenceProficiency with computers, telephones, copiers, scanners, fax machines and other office equipmentAbility to meet deadlines, prioritize assignments and handle multiple tasks simultaneouslyValid driver’s license with a good driving recordFlexibility to work any shift
