EYEWITNESS NEWS is looking for the next Sports Anchor/Reporter to join our team.

Duties & Responsibilities Include:

Writes and delivers sports stories in a clear and concise manner.Periodically cover night time news events; breaking news, spot news and meetings.Displays vast knowledge of teams, players and storylines, especially those relevant to the Mohawk Valley at the professional, collegiate and high school levels.Responds to breaking sports news and events and other situations as required.Travels as needed for sports coverage.Enterprises, develops and produces stories under strict deadline pressure.Coordinates with the digital team to make sure CNYhomepage.com and social media are properly updated.Conduct face-to-face discussions with individuals or groups.Make decisions without supervision, make decisions that impact the results of co-workers.Work in close proximity with others.

 Qualifications:

General knowledge of sports and teams to be covered.Bachelor’s degree in journalism, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and work-related experience.Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.Flexibility to work any shift.Must include a link to online reel with your resume.Must have a valid driver’s license with a good driving record.

Physical Requirements:

Must be able to sit, stand, and conduct telephone conversations.Ability to lift, set up, and operate equipment weighing up to 25 pounds.Must be able to work in both indoor and outdoor environments, regardless of weather conditions.Repetitive movements (typing and handling equipment) are required, and work may be conducted in varying lighting conditions.Be able to handle, control objects or tools.

he Sports Reporter is responsible for researching, writing, capturing visual content and editing stories for multiple platforms.

Produces and presents sports reports for all platformsEnsures that all sports content meets company standards for journalistic integrity and production qualityWrites and delivers sports stories in a clear and concise mannerAssists in writing, copy editing, researching and coordinating sports programming and other contentResponds to breaking sports events and other urgent newsrooms situations as requiredWorks closely with the sports team to develop comprehensive sports coverageParticipates in promotional activities including public appearancesPerforms special projects and other duties as assigned        Shoots video for sports reportsSets up, composes and executes video shotsMaintains video equipmentEdits video clips for television broadcasts and eMedia contentWrites stories for the website and other eMedia platformsInteracts with viewers and users on social media sites

 Requirements & Skills:

 

Bachelor’s degree in Broadcast Journalism, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and work-related experienceComprehensive knowledge of sports and sports related activitiesFluency in EnglishExcellent communication skills, both oral and writtenMinimum five years’ experience in sports reporting or anchoring (More or less depending on market size)Superior on-air presenceExperience guiding, directing and motivating othersAbility to identify the developmental needs of others and to coach, mentor or otherwise help others to improve their knowledge or skillsProficiency with computers, telephones, copiers, scanners, fax machines and other office equipmentAbility to meet deadlines, prioritize assignments and handle multiple tasks simultaneouslyAbility to effectively listen to fully understand problems and communicate with a team to shape a solutionValid driver’s license with a good driving recordFlexibility to work any shift
