About This Position

ChristianaCare is searching for a Research Accounting Manager to provide leadership and accounting support for all operations within Research and Grants. This position will ensure post award activities are being conducted in accordance with Federal and State regulations, contractual terms and conditions, and institutional policies and procedures.

The Research Accounting Manager will also be responsible for the Cost Transfer Policy and procedures to ensure allowability and timeliness of salary and non-salary expenditures related to sponsored programs. This position generates monthly salary allocations and entries for approximately 30 hospital employed physicians serving as key personnel to federally funded programs as well as assist the Research Finance Director with oversight of frontline project managers and the Research Finance team member activities related to post award controls and compliance.

Some responsibilities include......

Manages the overall processes for sponsored program cost transfers, including validating the allowability, allocability, and reasonableness of the transfer in accordance with federal and state regulations, sponsor policy, award terms and conditions, and ChristianaCare policy.

Creates all manual journal entries, accounting adjustments, and payroll accounting adjustments related to valid Cost Transfers in Workday.

Manages post award financial activities for all Federally Funded, prime awards, which includes completing the cumulative federal cash disbursement schedule, executing requests for direct deposits related to monthly invoicing at DHHS Payment Management System, and assisting RF leadership and grant managers with required Federal Financial Reports.

Manages post award aspects of the Workday Grants module of assigned department portfolios, including, but not limited to:

creates and corrects Awards, assigns roles to Grants and Awardscreates and maintains award planscreates and corrects personnel effort commitments on awardsreviews allowability of expenses charged to grant IDs on award linesanalyzes trial balance and profit and loss statements related to grant IDs and research cost centers for allowability of charges on sponsored programscreates and edit billing schedulescreates invoices as well as invoice adjustments

Completes monthly allowability reviews for each sponsored program in assigned portfolio and provides analysis of questioned or unallowable costs to grant managers and principal investigators.

Prepares monthly salary over the cap journal entries as required by federal regulations and/or sponsor policy, which includes validating salary charges in Kronos on sponsored program Grant IDs and ensuring applicable cap rates are used.

Assists RF Director with annual external Uniform Guidance (UG) Audit, along with assisting auditors with compliance testing.

Assists RF Director with Workday updates, logging and developing solutions for Workday operational issues, and meeting customer needs as related to the Grants module.

Performs special audits, budget vs actual analyses, and program close-outs as requested by RF leadership or departments.

Education and experience requirements:

Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Business Management, Finance, or related field required ---or ---- Four years of Research and Grants experience in lieu of Bachelor’s degree.Minimum of 5 years’ experience in accounting or financial reporting required.Sponsored Program grant accounting experience preferred.
