Research Administrator I

Position Summary
Management of day to day research administration activities including new award set up, processing amendments, cost redistributions, subcontract setup/payment/follow up. Assist with prior approvals including no cost extensions, PI changes, budget revisions and effort reductions. Route and track award proposal development revisions in Kuali Research. Assist with effort reporting certification process to ensure accuracy within certification deadline period. Manage compliance with all funding agencies to assure that all required information is maintained and reported on a regular basis and identify, analyze and correct any discrepancies between award terms/conditions and expenditure/programmatic requirements. Monitor awards and budgets for accuracy, provides financial administration on all grant accounts, develops and compiles data to produce reports for PI's to make educated decisions and spending plans. Serve as liaison with the CHM Research Office, OSP and CGA. Assist with transfers of sponsored projects both into and out of the Department. Meet with Department research teams and faculty regularly to review expenditures and forecast expenses; prepare and review spreadsheets and reports in preparation for meetings. Collaborate with CGA on information needed to meet reporting deadlines. Manage the grant close out process
Minimum Requirements
Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing a four-year college degree program in Business Administration, Finance, or a research-related field; up to six months of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in research administration in one or more of the research process areas of pre- or post-award processes, such as regulatory administration; experience in word processing, spreadsheet and database software; or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience. The job also requires: completion of Essentials of Research Administration (MSU certificate) or equivalent within one year of hire.
Desired Qualifications
Experience in community based research administration and engaging with community partners. Excellent communication and organizational skills. Attention to detail and accuracy with the ability to focus on multiple tasks with rapidly changing priorities and deadlines. Capable of working independently. Ability to think creatively to resolve conflicts that arise. Experience monitoring grant activities within a university setting. Knowledge of federal laws and regulations including MSU Federal/State Cost Policy. Working knowledge of Kuali Research, EBS, Kuali Financial, SAP HR/Payroll, Account Explorer. Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Teams, Outlook), Office365, file sharing. MSU Essentials of Research Administration certificate.
