Research Advisor Graduate Medical Education

This is a hybrid position. There will be occasional onsite requirements to meet 1:1 with residents and fellows, present to Residency & fellowship programs, and participate in the standard onsite learning and meetings.

In this brand-new role, you will play a vital part in ensuring our more than 400 Residents and Fellows meet the scholarly activity requirements set by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME), Residency Review Committees (RRC), and other institutional guidelines. Research is a cornerstone of graduate medical education - often essential for graduation and board certification - and the level of support available can vary widely across specialties. Job Summary

Leads and oversees the research development, implementation, and education for the Graduate Medical Education programs to help them achieve scholarly requirements set forth by the Accreditation Council of Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) and Residency Review Committees (RRC), as well as other program and institutional guidelines.

Advise and support residents, fellows, and faculty mentors with the following research initiatives:
• Research, quality, and educational study development
• Evaluation and survey design; experience with quality/safety research study design
• Institutional Review Board (IRB) application assistance
• Statistical analysis and interpretation
• Poster and podium presentation design
• Manuscript/abstract development
• Research education/lectures: elementary statistics, research design, research process, survey development, evidence-based medicine, epidemiology
• Journal Club support: including reviewing articles prior to journal club presentations, leading and/or participating in journal club discussions
• Calculates, analyzes and interprets data collected for GME research studies

Essential FunctionsResponsible for the development of educational programs regarding research development for residents and fellows.Communicates and collaborates on a regular basis regarding all aspects of research with the graduate medical education team, management, sponsors, physicians, executives, board members, allied health professionals, university staff, etc.Leads the GME Research Action Team: a committee combined of program directors and research leaders to foster collaboration between the two departments.Collaborates with the Office of Sponsored Programs and foundation to identify sources of funding for resident/fellow research.Assists in the development and review of all resident/fellow related research grant applications.In coordination with the research department, acts as the GME point of contact for the annual GME Research Day; supports and coordinates the reviews of GME submissions.Is an active member of Shaping Healthcare through an Academy of Professional Educators (SHAPE) and is responsible for leading the review of all educational research studies and grant applications to SHAPE.

Qualifications

Required

Master's Degree in Clinical Investigation, Biostatistics, or equivalent5 years of relevant skills, knowledge, abilities typically gained through related experience5 years of relevant experience in research education, student design, IRB submission, statistical support – including analyzing and interpreting data

Preferred

Doctorate MD, DO, and/or PhD2 years of relevant experience in clinical research management experienceCRT-Clinical Research Professional, Certified (CCRP) - SOCRA Society of Clinical Research Associates OrCRT-Clinical Research Associate, Certified (CCRA) - ACRP Association of Clinical Research Professionals OrCRT-Clinical Research Coordinator, Certified (CCRC) - ACRP Association of Clinical Research Professionals OrCRT-Principal Investigator, Certified (CPI) - ACRP Association of Clinical Research Professionals OrCRT-Project Manager Subspecialty (ACRP-PM) - ACRP Association of Clinical Research Professionals
