UW faculty and staff also enjoy outstanding benefits, professional growth opportunities and unique resources in an environment noted for diversity, intellectual excitement, artistic pursuits, and natural beauty. **The University of Washington Department of Medicine’s** **_Division of Hematology & Oncology_** **has an opportunity for a** **_Temporary_** **Research Analyst 1** **in the Thoracic, Head & Neck Oncology group.** Under the general supervision of Dr. Keith Eaton, this position will provide research and data analysis support for the THN group. **Duties:** • Review data within the Seattle Translational Tumor Research (STTR) Caisis – web-based cancer data management system. • Understand the source and flow of data abstracted into Caisis. • Assess the breadth of use cases for the data within Caisis • Develop and create visualizations of Caisis data within Tableau, to turn raw data into actionable insights for study teams. • Explore ways to make the data tell a bigger picture/macro-level story • Update survival analysis of patients treated in first line by the THN Research team • Complete projects with investigators, including: Intestinal differentiation project, looking at survival outcomes for both the NCDB based on ICD codes and institution based IHC Markers. • Perform analysis and complete clinical correlation for SCC project based on PDX models from sample collections. • Development of a data dashboard using EPIC, ORCA/MindScape, and CAISIS repositories with the hope of building a tool that helps our clinical team analyze patient demographics, treatment outcomes, and trial forecasting • Contribute to several peer-reviewed publications with a particular focus on survival outcomes and clinical correlations for projects like the intestinal differentiation initiative • Involvement in quality improvement activities, including chart reviews and abstraction, ultimately helping the team improve testing compliance and the delivery of quality healthcare. **Minimum Qualifications:** A Bachelor’s Degree including college-level course work in statistics or one year of work experience in statistics, analysis, or research OR equivalent education/experience. **Desirable Qualifications:** • College-level course work in a relevant academic area AND appropriate experience OR equivalent education/experience • No prior research experience required • Candidate should be motivated with a strong work ethic and professional demeanor • Excellent communication and organizational skills required, as well as the ability to learn quickly and take direction well • Must have the ability to work both independently as well as within a team environment • Computing proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, data entry, and database experience is highly desirable • Familiarity with medical terminology is desirable, but not required • Work study students are preferred, but not required **Position Location** This position will work within the THN Medical Oncology Clinical Trials Core program in the Division of Medical Oncology.
