JOB DESCRIPTION: Research Analyst – Shark

FactSet Corporate Governance (Shark) provides comprehensive corporate activism, takeover defenses, corporate governance, and proxy proposals data of thousands of public companies incorporated in the United States and other global regions.
The primary responsibility of the Research Analyst (RA) is to conduct extensive research from different sources including press releases, financial reports, presentations, exhibits, and US SEC filings among others. The RA continuously tracks information relating to corporate governance, events, and different types of activism and accurately and concisely transposes relevant information into internal database/s. The RA is expected to be trained on multiple processes handled by the team (Activism, Charters, Proposals, Governance, Poison Pill, or N-PX)
Job Responsibilities
Monitor corporate events such as shareholder meetings from various sources like EDGAR and company websites
Collect, analyze and process financial market information from various data sources and into the database/s utilized by the team
Understand shareholder actions and activist intentions
Keep track of corporate actions including adoption of certain company policies and procedures
Encode meeting agenda and vote results into the database/s
Maintain company records, making sure that all information is correct, and updates are reflected real time
Analyze documents and make changes according to set guidelines or methodologies
Participate in meetings related to ad hoc enhancements and testing
Work on data clean-ups and other projects like documentation
Coordinate with Quality Analysts on feedback relating to work and make immediate changes as needed
Communicate effectively with other members of the team, both locally and globally
Report critical issues promptly
Perform other tasks assigned by the Team Leader/Management
Job Requirements
Bachelor's degree in commerce, Business, Finance, Economics, or Accounting
Fundamental understanding of Corporate Governance and Activism and the financial markets, with a solid understanding of financial and investment management concepts
Strong communication, organization and interpersonal skills
A proactive, confident thinker proficient in multi-tasking
Intermediate problem-solving skills
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet set deadlines
Enthusiasm, a strong sense of initiative, able to prioritize, with an eye for detail and commitment to accuracy
Highly self-motivated who can work independently as well as in a group setting
Completion of internal department training program/s
Willing to work on shifts and holidays (AM, PM, GY)
Amenable to start on October/November 2024
