We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Research and Development Technologist to join our innovative team, where you will play a pivotal role in enhancing product performance and pioneering the development of groundbreaking solutions. Your ability to think critically and apply scientific methodologies will be essential as you create, develop, and test a variety of samples, including bentonite, chemicals, and wastewater applications. Experience with Geochemistry, Mineralogy (especially Clay Mineralogy) and/or Geology would be the ideal background and beneficial to have in this position. Questions or need assistance with application: 406-869-8318 The main purpose and function of the Research and Development Technologist is to plan, coordinate, and carry out necessary research to establish existing product performance, enhance existing product performance and develop new products. Specific responsibilities may include: + Creates, develops and tests bentonite, chemicals, wastewater, grout and other samples for application centric use while exercising professional judgement in the evaluation, selection, and modification of applied methods and techniques. + Identifies and assesses product requirements; applies this knowledge to support product development strategies. + Adapts existing product designs to meet new specifications and applications. + Tests product designs to verify product reliability; makes adjustments as required. + Drafts and distributes laboratory reports detailing results of testing and analysis. + Maintains documentation for all sample testing, performance testing, product development research. + Collaborates in information gathering and analysis and communicates technical information and test data. + Maintains knowledge in developing trends and technologies in the industry. + Ensures adherence to company processes and procedures as well as compliance with industry standards and best practices, and governmental laws and regulations. + Operates, maintains, and tests laboratory equipment; identifies problems when equipment fails and conducts or recommends repairs. + Supports and participates in the organizations Continual Improvement Program and Quality Management System. + Other duties as assigned. Requirements: Education and training: + Bachelor of Science degree. Geochemistry, Mineralogy (especially Clay Mineralogy) and/or Geology highly desirable. Experience: + Two (2) to four (4) years as Analytical Geochemist, Mineralogist, or Geologist. + Experience working in an ISO 9001/2015 and/or API Specification Q1, 11th Edition environment a plus. Knowledge and Skills: + Problem solving skills: ability to identify source of problem; execute solutions and document the issue; escalate to management when needed. + Strong analytical and mathematical skills. + Resourceful mindset and multi-task oriented. + Thorough understanding of product testing and processes. + Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. + Proficient in MS Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and learning other technical systems as needed. + Strong natural interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
