Research Assistant,Term, Molecular Physiology and Biophysics, Zaganjor Lab

The mission of the lab is to understand the basic metabolic principles that promote normal development, as well as the underlying mechanisms that lead to pathologies such as diabetes. Some of the questions that we study in the lab are: How do metabolites stimulate adipose development? How can we use pharmacological and/or genetic tools to improve adipose depot in the context of obesity? We employ biochemistry, cell biology, metabolomics, and in vivo mouse models to address these questions.

Duties and Responsibilities

Performing related laboratory maintenance such as ordering supplies and managing inventory, cleaning glassware/autoclave, preparing and aliquoting stock solutions. Assist in the efficient operation of the lab. Performing detailed and accurate documentation of all experiments and laboratory practices.  Performing mouse tissue dissection, collection, and storage  Conducting ex vivo sample analysis (western blot, RT-qPCR, IF, etc.)  Sample preparation for metabolomics Opportunity to perform independent research Following laboratory protocols and safety regulations
