Position Summary:
The Research Assistant 1 will assist Dr. Emil, the Mirella and Lino Saputo Foundation Chair in Pediatric Surgical Education and Patient and Family-Centered Care with projects within the Chair’s mandate. The Research Assistant will work directly with other personnel within the Department of Pediatric Surgery, The Montreal Children’s Hospital, and international collaborators to coordinate the various educational and research projects currently within the Chair’s mandates.
Please note weekly scheduled hours: PT- 21 hours per week. Week days schedule to be discussed with the supervisor.
Responsibilities:
(i) Under the supervision of the Research Supervisor and, where appropriate, under the direction of the Director of Research for the Beardmore Division of Pediatric Surgery, conducts research projects using established protocols, processes and procedures.
(ii.) Executes experiments, questionnaires, the recruitment and training of interviewers, data collection, test administration, conducting interviews, planning and preparation of research documentation, and compilation of data.
(iii.) Recommends and implements improvements to existing methods of analysis or research.
(iv.) Analyzes and interprets research data and disseminates the results. May write research reports.
(vi.) Assists with the preparation of grant applications.
(vii.) Responsible for the quality and results of their own work.
(viii.) May provide the technical guidance to the Undergraduate/Graduate Student Research Assistants and Technicians, in the execution of tasks related to research projects.
(ix.) Performs various administrative tasks related to the project.
(x). Assists graduate students with projects as needed.
(xi). Organized and coordinated educational projects under the Chair's mandates.
Qualifications:
Possesses subject matter expertise acquired through a Bachelor’s Degree.
Has a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience to the research project or academic research experience may be deemed equivalent.
