Dr. Raquel Cuella Martin's lab at the Department of Human Genetics, Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences applies cutting-edge large-scale precision genome editing to address outstanding mechanistic questions in the DNA damage response and their association with human disorders. We are interested in the mechanisms whereby DNA repair and checkpoint control activities are integrated, and how they coordinate to preserve cellular homeostasis and suppress tumorigenesis.

Position Summary:
1. Manage your own academic research on T cell engineering working together with the Melichar and Cuella Martin teams.

2. Manage collaborations related to your project.

3. Support the laboratory research environment and assist other laboratory members as needed.

4. Assist in the appraisal and evaluation of new technologies.

5. Contribute to the mentoring of undergraduate and graduate students.

6. Contribute to the writing of project proposals and grants related to your research project.

7. Maintain appropriate records of experiments and protocols as well as raw and processed data as per laboratory guidelines.

Education/Experience:

Holds at least a master’s degree in immunology, genome engineering, molecular biology, genomics, or related area.Good publication record and/or demonstrated scientific excellence for the career stage.Experience in genome editing and screening technologies and associated analysis toolbox.Experience in T cell immunology.

Qualifications:

Excellent written and oral communication skills (in English). Ability to provide feedback and communicate results clearly and effectively, and to discuss scientific ideas within the work environment.Excellent record keeping and efficiency; precision-driven work approach.Excellent project management skills and ability to multi-task.The ability to work with a high degree of autonomy and initiative in a constantly changing, deadline-oriented environment.The ability to work in a team.
