Job Description:
This interdisciplinary project, entitled “Learning experientially, and ethically? Interrogating ethical commitments of community-engaged experiential learning (CEEL) in sustainability education” is funded by Seed and Branch Proposal, Bieler School of Environment, McGill University. The project aims to bring together a team of sustainability and education researchers, educators, and program directors to explore these issues.
Primary Duties:
This Research Associate position focuses on leading the research design and overseeing the entire project activities. Key responsibilities include:
- Lead actor and practice mapping, support compilation and piloting of tools and strategies
- Over project coordination
- Mentor and oversee the Student Research Assistants
- Contribute to co-authorship of project outputs: One internal report for McGill leadership, one journal article (targeting Sustainability Science); and one proposal for a Tri-Council Agency funding opportunity.
- Participating in project planning and monitoring meetings with collaborators
Qualifications Required (skills and abilities, education, language skills):
- Over five years of professional experience in education, international development, sustainability, and related fields.
- In-depth knowledge of inter- and transdisciplinary research and their ethical implications.
- More than five years of project management experience.
- Extensive experience in designing and leading stakeholder engagement and training workshops across various scales and context.
- Familiarity with qualitative and/or quantitative research methodologies
- Extensive experience in producing knowledge products for diverse audience
- Experience in grant writing and securing research funding
Education/experience requirements:
- Doctoral degree in education with a specific focus on sustainability
Additional qualifying skills and abilities:
-Excellent command of spoken and written English; proficiency in French (spoken and written) is a strong asset.
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to meet deadlines and manage project constraints effectively.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to synthesize complex information
