Project overview:

The project is targeted at developing new methods in the optimal control of partially observed multivariable linear systems. This will involve extensions of classical linear control system design methods using new state space decompositions. Furthermore, within this framework, new approximate information state notions are planned to be employed in the analysis and synthesis of sub-optimal controllers for systems with very large state spaces.

Position Summary:

The Research Assistant will help with the following tasks:

-            Develop and extend current work in the geometric and algebraic control system design area using methods developed locally and, in the community, at large.
-            Develop software implementing the control system synthesis methods developed in the project.

-          Generate conference and journal publications communicating the results of the work.

Qualifications:

-            M.Sc. in a related field (e.g. systems and control theory, applied mathematics, computer science).

-            Experience in mathematical analysis, computer simulations, systems modelling.

-            Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

 -           An ability to write applied mathematical and engineering science reports and papers.
