The Department of Neurological Surgery at Oregon Health & Science University is seeking a Research Assistant II to support experimental design, data acquisition, and analysis for research projects involving human electrophysiology. The ideal candidate will have experience or strong interest in programming, data analysis,and engineering techniques relevant to experimental research.

 

Proficiency in Matlab and/or Python (or a willingness to learn) is highly desirable, as the role will involve
developing and implementing computational tools for data processing, visualization, and analysis. Additional experience with signal processing, statistical modeling, or machine learning would be beneficial.

Work will be conducted under the direction of Dr. Kelly Collins, Dr. Ahmed Raslan, and Dr. Daniel Cleary at OHSU. The position offers flexibility in responsibilities, allowing for a range of technical and analytical
contributions to ongoing research projects.

Function/Duties of Position Assist with the design, development, and implementation of computational
tools for data analysis and experiment automation Develop scripts and software in Python/MATLAB for data processing,
visualization, and statistical modelingPerform quantitative analysis of electrophysiology and other research
datasets, applying signal processing and machine learning techniques as
needed Contribute to technical documentation, data reports, and manuscript
preparation for research publications and grant submissions Participate in lab meetings, present technical findings, and collaborate on
experimental design discussions Support compliance, data management, and general lab operations as
needed for ongoing research projects Required Qualifications

Education:

Currently pursuing or holding a BS/BA in a STEM-related field (e.g., ComputerScience, Engineering, Physics, or a related technical discipline)

 

Job Related Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (Competencies):

Proficiency in Python, MATLAB, or other relevant programming languagesStrong analytical and problem-solving skillsAbility to process and analyze large datasets using computational toolsStrong organizational and time management skillsAbility to work collaboratively and communicate technical concepts effectively Preferred Qualifications

Education:

MS or additional coursework in a computational or engineering field

 

Experience:

Experience applying computational methods to scientific research (e.g., data analysis,modeling, or simulation)

 

Job Related Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (Competencies):

Experience with machine learning, statistical modeling, or signal processingExperience with data visualization and reporting tools
Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git)
