The Hoyt lab seeks two research assistants with expertise in field and experimental disease ecology to help coordinate efforts examining the effects indirect transmission on infectious disease outbreaks. As part of a recently funded NIH Ecology and Evolution of Infectious Diseases award, we will be conducting a study to understand the ecological drivers of pathogen transmission in wildlife communities with an emphasis on environmentally mediated transmission. The technicians will be responsible for assisting with day to day animal care, field data collection, setting up lab experiments and analysis of data. This project is being conducted in the snake fungal disease system and technicians should have experience working with snakes in both lab and field settings.
The Hoyt lab is housed in an infectious disease collaborative space, which provides an environment for interdisciplinary research on environment-infectious disease relationships. For more information about the lab please visit hoytresearch.org. The position is for on-site work only and includes a competitive salary.
