Research Assistant
We are looking to hire a Research Assistant for an opening in New Albany, Ohio!! Job Description The Research Assistant will support preclinical studies at all stages by executing cardiac, behavioral, and muscle-based functional outcomes to characterize rodent models and assist in testing drug efficacy. The role requires multitasking abilities, strong communication skills, organizational skills, and adherence to Good Laboratory Practices (GLP). The Research Assistant will perform outcomes following Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and study specifications, often working independently and demonstrating proficiency in rodent handling. Responsibilities + Execute functional outcomes including open-field assessment, grip strength, gait analysis, plethysmography, ECG, etc. + Support Animal Outcomes staff in setting up and performing outcomes, including quality checking and inputting data. + Assist in ordering and stocking inventory, and perform routine equipment cleaning and maintenance. + Adhere to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Study Protocols. + Document with strict adherence to Good Laboratory Practices (GLPs) and Good Documentation Practices (GDP). + Humanely and confidently handle rodents. Essential Skills + Animal husbandry + Animal handling + Animal science + Vivarium experience + Animal research Additional Skills & Qualifications + Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in a Life Science Field + Passionate about animal welfare + Prior experience in laboratory animal handling and restraint techniques + Ability to work as part of a team with strong organizational skills + Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities + Strong documentation skills and attention to detail + Strong communication skills and ability to follow verbal instructions + Strong understanding and ability to follow laboratory methods and SOPs + Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint Work Environment This is a lab environment where the Research Assistant will spend most of their day working with animals and some time working at a desk.
