Job Description
The Research Assistant will support preclinical studies at all stages through the execution of cardiac, behavioral, and muscle-based functional outcomes to characterize rodent models and assist in testing drug efficacy. The Research Assistant must multitask with a strong ability to communicate, stay organized, and document in accordance with GLP. Outcomes must be performed in accordance with SOPs and per study specifications. The Research Assistant will need to follow instructions and at times work independently. Additionally, proficiency in rodent handling is required.
ResponsibilitiesExecute functional outcomes including open-field assessment, grip strength, gait analysis, plethysmography, ECG, etc.Support Animal Outcomes staff in setting up and performing outcomes, including quality checking and inputting data.Assist in ordering and stocking inventory, and perform routine equipment cleaning and maintenance.Adhere to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Study Protocols.Document with strict adherence to Good Laboratory Practices (GLPs) and Good Documentation Practices (GDP).Handle rodents humanely and confidently.Essential SkillsExperience in laboratory animal handling and restraint techniques.Ability to work as part of a team with strong organizational skills.Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities.Strong documentation skills and attention to detail.Strong communication skills and ability to follow verbal instructions.Strong understanding and ability to follow laboratory methods and SOPs.Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.Additional Skills & QualificationsAssociate or bachelor’s degree, scientific field preferred.Passionate about animal welfare.Experience with animal handling, animal science, biology, animal husbandry, vivarium, animal research, cell culture, and PCR.Work Environment
This is a lab environment where you will spend most of your day working with animals, with some time spent working at a desk. The facility is a brand-new, state-of-the-art establishment within a growing startup company in cell/gene therapy manufacturing.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $20.00 - $22.00
