Job Title Research Assistant Agency Texas A&M Agrilife Research Department Nutrition Proposed Minimum Salary Commensurate Job Location College Station, Texas Job Type Staff Job Description Job Responsibilities: + Assists in the design, planning, performing and coordinating experiments in support of various research projects. + Works with mice, collects and analyzes biological samples and manages mice colonies. + Selects and applies standard techniques of routine research and keeps detailed records of data. + Uses computers and laboratory or technical equipment to perform data analysis, statistical analysis, technical evaluation of research experiments and results. + Assists in preparing and writing proposals to funding agencies; maintains financial accounts related to research projects. + Installs, operates and maintains research equipment. + Assists with reports, invoices, and cataloging records. + Maintains cell cultures as needed. + Performs other related duties as assigned. Required Education and Experience: + Bachelor’s degree in relevant field. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. Preferred Experience: + Experience working with mice. + Experience with cell culture. + Experience with major cell biology, biochemistry, and/or molecular biology techniques. Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: + Knowledge of laboratory maintenance and equipment. + Ability to work independently and as a team. + Ability to multi task and work cooperatively with others + Ability to effectively utilize a computer and applicable software to maintain lab notes, populate databases, perform statistical analyses, present data and perform other computer related tasks.
