Position Summary: Located in the Information Technology Services division, the Web Content Strategist plays an integral role in developing and furthering the content strategy and management of Arkansas State University websites, including the flagship site, AState.edu. This role requires excellent writing and web publishing skills blended with an understanding of the institutional end users’ needs, enterprise web content management systems, and University objectives. Duties & Responsibilities: This person will be a key member of the ITS team that is responsible for managing the University's website content in conjunction with constituents across campus that communicate critical information to audiences such as prospective students, current students, employees, families, alumni, and the community at large. This position will collaborate alongside key groups on campus such as Marketing & Communications, Academic Affairs, Student Affairs, Enrollment Management, and others. + Become a power user of the University's content management system (Modern Campus CMS), capable of envisioning, building and updating all types of web pages using a combination of templates, widgets, images, and other features. + Develop and optimize SEO-driven content for the university website, including academic program pages and engaging, enriched content designed to attract and inform prospective students. + Provide periodic training seminars for new and existing users on platform capabilities and new features. + Advise and assist academic and administrative departments in developing and updating websites that promote their programs (optimized with SEO) and align with A-State’s external communications strategy. + Support administrative and academic units in creating collateral and digital assets for web display and other media, ensuring alignment with university branding and communication goals. + Ensure all web content adheres to the University's electronic accessibility standards and legal requirements. + Actively monitor University websites for broken links, misspellings, policy violations, accessibility, etc., and work with content contributors to make corrections and improvements. + Create original content that resonates with target audiences, maintaining an appropriate tone based on the page’s purpose and the office or unit it represents. + Continuously evaluate and improve display, usability, and organization of website content. + Respond to all requests in a timely fashion, offering solutions that effectively address users’ needs. + Review relevant analytics and adjust strategies as appropriate. + Stay updated on best practices, tools and trends related to web content strategy, accessibility, SEO, and other areas of online content. + Other duties as assigned. Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: · Create and optimize web content with a deep understanding of audience needs, ensuring clarity, engagement, and usability while adhering to best practices for online readability and SEO. · An understanding of content management systems and web publishing technologies. Experience with HTML, CSS, and web accessibility standards a plus, but not required. · Experience in the various phases of building and launching websites including auditing content, information architecture planning, content development, asset collection, QA and migration. · Functional knowledge of multiple website practice areas including digital strategy, content strategy, visual design, UX, information architecture, analytics/measurement, and federal web accessibility guidelines and compliance. · Proficiency with Adobe Photoshop. · Experience with Google Analytics. · Demonstrated ability to manage a large portfolio of projects with flexibility and attention to detail. · Ability to mentor team members and establish appropriate professional development plans. · Familiar adhering to guidelines for grammar, brand messaging, writing, and style. · Ability to gain the confidence of team members and university stakeholders by communicating regularly, keeping commitments, setting expectations and delivering as promised. · Demonstrated willingness and ability to support a diverse and inclusive environment.
