Research Assistant - BMED Lab

Position Summary

The research assistant will be responsible for collecting data related to research protocols in the Biobehavioral Mechanisms Explaining Disparities (BMED) Lab. Under the guidance of the lab manager and/or project coordinator, s/he will assist with running participant visits, and maintain study material, individual participant files, and standard operating procedures for the research projects. The research assistant will handle sensitive and confidential information which must be secured and s/he must be able to ensure private information of study participants remains confidential.  This is a one-year term limited position with the possibility of extension based upon need and available funding.

*Non-Exempt (hourly) positions under FLSA are eligible for overtime.

Minimum Requirements

HS diploma or equivalent

Skills:

Ability to learn quickly Detail oriented and good verbal and written communication skills Ability to multitask, prioritize, meet deadlines, analytical and organization skills Good knowledge or Microsoft Office Suite as well as proprietary databases

Preferences:

Bachelor’s degree or working on a Bachelor’s degree Related psychological laboratory and/or research experience Able to keep sensitive and confidential information private

Essential Functions

Run participant study visits Recruit and screen potential study participants Performs specific research techniques as required Help maintain database Interacts and takes direction with/from laboratory manager to ensure adequate preparation and supplies are available for study visits Performs all other duties as assigned

Physical Demands

Requires working at a computer for extended periods of time (up to eight hours per day)

Working Conditions

Working hours are negotiated between laboratory and research assistants
