Responsible for fundamental analysis of companies in the Biotechnology sector.

Job Description

What is the Opportunity?

Research Associate responsible for fundamental analysis of companies in the Biotechnology sector

What will you do? 

Develop an expertise in the Biotechnology sector

Assist in the development and detailed modeling of company specific financial models

Coordinate, generate and maintain research reports, presentations and databases

Provide research support to analyst as required

Incumbent is in the process of developing core Research Associate skills

Support and answer client queries as they relate to the sector

Proactively identify operational risks/ control deficiencies in the business

Review and comply with Firm Policies applicable to your business activities

Escalate operational risk loss events, control deficiencies and risks that you identify to your line manager and the relevant risk and control functions on a timely basis.

What do you need to succeed?

  Basic Qualifications

PhD, MD, or similar advanced degree in life sciences field relevant to therapeutics

NYSE Licensing Requirements – Series 7, 63, 86 & 87, SIE

Other Required Qualifications:

1-2 years of work experience in a non-academic setting such as biopharma industry/drug development, life sciences consulting, or investment banking is a plus

Familiarity with accounting and financial modeling

Previous exposure to the biopharmaceuticals sector

Efficient writing capabilities

Strong computer skills (Excel) with ability to quickly learn new platforms

Detail oriented with solid analytical skills and ability to synthesize data points into trends beyond the mainstream

Energetic, self-motivated and an ability to perform under pressure and meet time sensitive deadlines, sometimes for extended periods of time

Demonstrated passion for equity/financial markets

Prior sell-side equity research experience in biotechnology, pharma, or specialty pharmaceuticals is a plus

Good understanding of financial/stock market

Knowledge of Wolters Kluwer software and IMS are a plus

Supporting Senior Analyst

Internal clients including sales and trading

External clients as required

WORKING CONDITIONS

The work environment is based on a office/trading floor, thus little physical effort is required

The office environment can be a high stress environment that requires quick turnaround and decision making

The good-faith expected salary range for the above position is $100,000 - $160,000 depending on factors including but not limited to the candidate’s experience, skills, registration status; market conditions; and business needs.  This salary range does not include other elements of total compensation, including a discretionary bonus and benefits such as a 401(k) program with company-matching contributions; health, dental, vision, life and disability insurance; and paid time-off plan.
