Job Title Research Associate Agency Texas A&M Agrilife Research Department Vet Phys & Pharm Proposed Minimum Salary Commensurate Job Location College Station, Texas Job Type Staff Job Description Job Description Summary: The Research Associate under general supervision performs independent or supervisory roles in research activities requiring an advanced level of knowledge in a field of science, spearheads planning research, supports laboratory methods and techniques, carrying out procedures, and recording results for a series of experiments. The successful candidate will help prepare proposals for funding agencies, operate research equipment, and supervise graduate and undergraduate students in research. Qualifications Required Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree in relevant field Two years of related professional experience Preferred Education and Experience: Three or more years of experience in scientific research or experimental work. Master’s degree and one or more years of additional experience in scientific research. Required Special Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Ability to use laboratory equipment, scientific apparatus and computers. Attention to detail. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to multitask, work cooperatively with others Ability to supervise students in the laboratory. Ability to lift 20 pounds or more. Preferred Special Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Experience in cell culture and/or mouse models. Ability to perform data analysis in R or SAS. Bioinformatics experience. Essential Duties/Tasks 60%: Laboratory Work Performing laboratory procedures including but not limited to: cell culture, plasmid cloning, transfection, nanoparticle fabrication in collaboration with bioengineering, qPCR, western blotting, EIAs, mouse model studies. 10%: Laboratory Maintenance Cleaning, organizing, inventorying, ordering and waste management. 10%: Record Keeping Recording experimental data and data analysis. 15%: Training Training and managing undergraduate student workers. 5%: Other Duties Performs other duties as assigned.
