Job Title: Research Associate Job Description The Contract Research Associate plans and conducts experiments under the direction of a Scientist I for in vitro studies and assay development to advance our portfolio of genetic therapies spanning Gene Therapy, RNA, and Gene Editing treating neuromuscular and CNS-related diseases. The Contract Research Associate works as part of the team in our Genetic Engineering Innovation Center in Durham as well as with the broader research teams in Ohio and Massachusetts. Reporting structures may shift as the North Carolina site grows. Primary Responsibilities Include: • Plans and conducts experiments at the direction of scientists, performs routine laboratory functions using a variety of assay formats such as molecular cloning, nucleic acid and protein purification, Western blot, PCR, next-generation sequencing, and coordinates activities and timelines through close collaboration with the laboratory head and other laboratory staff. • Contributes to a safe, efficient, and effective laboratory environment with personal accountability; equipment procurement and maintenance, lab setup and maintenance; ordering of reagents, glass and plastic-ware kits, and equipment to keep the laboratory stocked and functional. • Participates in the evaluation and implementation of new technologies to improve quality and robustness of sample analysis. • Troubleshoots routine technical challenges and contributes to their resolution. • Maintains compliant laboratory records, authors technical documents, protocols, and reports; ensures effective high-quality timely and appropriate documentation in laboratory notebooks and internal technical reports in accordance with Good Documentation Practices (GDPs). • Performs other related duties as assigned.
