This position is for 3 years, contingent upon funding.

Job Description Summary

Conduct research at the ALICE experiment at the LHC with the focus on the heavy flavor hadrons and resonances. Using the new Inner tracking System (ITS) detector and the new O2 software to develop and optimize particle identification and selection using Machine Learning (ML) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) techniques. This includes the publication of the research results with frequent presentations at ALICE meetings and Conferences. The duties also include shifts at CERN during data taking.

Publishing papers and conference presentations

Required Qualifications:

A PhD in Physics and experience in hadronic resonance and charm hadron reconstruction at high energy accelerator experiments. Familiar with Root and ALIRooT software.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in data calibration and simulation software PYTHIA and DPMJET.

Salary:

$65,000

Working Conditions

Some lifting and moving of equipment may be required.

May work in standard office conditions.
