Research Associate - Community Health in Aging
The Johns Hopkins School of Nursing announces an opening for a Research Associate faculty position with a focus on community health in aging. In collaboration with the School of Medicine's Memory and Aging Services Innovation Center and through strategic community partnerships and investments, the Johns Hopkins School of Nursing leads several initiatives aimed at addressing critical gaps in the healthcare system and brain health. Key initiatives include the "Neighborhood Care Pathway", a concept community health in aging model to implement a robust, tiered, care pathway designed to provide older adults and their families living in lower resourced neighborhoods with high-quality services, supports and resources based on their different strengths, goals, needs and preferences of care, regardless of their financial resources or social status; the MIND at Home and GUIDE dementia care navigation programs at Johns Hopkins aimed at providing high quality family centered care navigation services to people living with dementia; and the MEMORI Corps activity-based companion care program to reduce social isolation for people living with dementia living at home and their care partner(s). Over the next five years, we will leverage community investments, Maryland health payment systems and aging policy, and federal initiatives to expand payment for older adults (e.g., the CMS GUIDE model) to build, implement, and evaluate key initiatives and explore opportunities for national adoption. Our interdisciplinary and experienced team will engage in multi-stakeholder collaboration and mobilization for systemic policy change, innovation, and sustainability. Responsibilities and Opportunities Under the direction of Dr. Quincy Samus and Dr. Sarah Szanton, the Research Associate faculty member will serve as a Senior Program Manager and co-investigator for the Neighborhood Care Pathway initiatives and support as needed on other existing key initiatives. The Research Associate will work closely within an interdisciplinary team and have access to exceptional resources to facilitate their activities in this role, including multiple opportunities to publish, assistance with grant-writing, dissemination of evidence to practice, and project planning for the next stage of their research careers. The faculty member will receive individualized mentoring and training to support their work and further develop their skills and competencies needed to advance populations' health and design, implement, and evaluate community-based programs. The initial appointment will be for a one-year, non-tenure track, with two additional years funded if progress is satisfactory.
