Position Summary
The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Michigan State University invites applications for multiple full-time Postdoctoral Research Associate positions in Dr. Qingxu “Bill” Jin’s research group. These positions offer exciting opportunities for individuals with expertise and research interests in the following areas:
+ Multi-scale cementitious material design and characterization
+ Multifunctional fiber-reinforced cementitious/ceramic composites
+ Low-carbon infrastructure materials
+ ML/AI-enabled imaging analysis and applications
+ Deep decarbonization through material recycling and CO₂ conversion
+ Life cycle assessment (LCA) studies
The successful candidates will work under the guidance of Dr. Qingxu “Bill” Jin (billjin@egr.msu.edu) in the Resilient, Intelligent, Sustainable & Energy-efficient (RISE) Infrastructure Materials Laboratory. The RISE group’s innovative research has been featured in multiple media outlets, including CBS, NPR, WKAR Public Media, WOOD-TV8, and MSU Today. Dr. Jin is dedicated to fostering a collaborative and supportive lab environment, actively mentoring postdoctoral researchers, and helping them achieve their professional goals.The initial appointment is for one year, with the possibility of renewal contingent on demonstrated research productivity and continued funding availability.

Required Degree
Doctorate -Engineering, or closely related discipline
Minimum Requirements
+ A Ph.D. in Civil and Environmental Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or a closely related field is required.
+ A demonstrated record of academic excellence and research achievement is essential.
+ Strong oral and written communication skills are required.
+ The ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment and a high level of self-motivation are expected.
Desired Qualifications
+ Strong analytical skills are beneficial, including but not limited to SEM, TEM, XRD, TGA, FITR, NMR, and ICP-OES. Experience with thermodynamic modeling of construction materials.
