Desired Start Date Position End Date (if temporary) To ensure full consideration, applications must be received by 11:59pm (MT) on02/16/2025 Description of Work Unit Founded in 2011 as a department of Colorado State University, CNEE is a privately funded initiative started by Colorado’s 41st Governor, Bill Ritter, Jr. and assisted by a team of energy and environmental policy experts. The Center works directly with legislators, regulators, utilities, state energy leaders, and stakeholders by providing technical and strategic assistance to help decision-makers create policies that facilitate the nation’s transition to a clean energy economy. (www.cnee.colostate.edu) Position Summary This entry-level position provides general research, writing, and analysis support to CNEE’s senior leadership, Project Leads, and the Research Manager on the following projects: + The Advanced Energy Legislation Tracker (www.aeltracker.org) and the State Policy Opportunity Tracker for Clean Energy (www.spotforcleanenergy.org) databases + CNEE’s Clean Energy Legislative Academy + CNEE web pages and social media + Other research reports and projects, as assigned The position is based full-time in Denver, CO with the option to work remotely part time. Required Job Qualifications + Bachelor’s degree in energy policy, political science, economics, environmental studies, natural resources, or a related field. + Excellent writing ability. + Minimum one year experience in clean energy policy or related research. + Good communications skills; experience working in a team environment. Preferred Job Qualifications + Working knowledge of state clean energy policy and related research. + Ability to independently conduct research projects and to synthesize information into a memo format. + Excellent proficiency with Microsoft Office suite, especially Word and Excel. + Working knowledge of various social media platforms including Facebook and LinkedIn. + Working knowledge of WordPress, Adobe Illustrator, or other design programs. Essential Duties Job Duty CategoryAEL Tracker and SPOT Maintenance Duty/Responsibility Support CNEE’s Research Manager in data collection and maintenance of the Advanced Energy Legislation Tracker (www.aeltracker.org) and State Policy Opportunity Tracker for Clean Energy (www.spotforcleanenergy.org) databases, including, but not limited to: + Reviewing and categorizing legislation in the AEL Tracker database; + Researching, drafting, and editing trend analysis papers for AEL Tracker website; + Participating in data validation for SPOT database; + Maintaining and updating policy briefs on the SPOT website; and + Undertaking and integrating new research (new policy briefs and new policy component questions) for the SPOT website. Percentage Of Time60 Job Duty CategoryClean Energy Legislative Academy Duty/Responsibility Support CNEE’s senior leadership, Project Leads, and Research Manager in planning and content creation for the Clean Energy Legislative Academy, including but not limited to: + Assisting Project Lead with researching and maintaining a database of potential legislator candidates; + Researching and drafting Academy presentations and other content as assigned; + Assisting Research Manager and Project Lead in writing and researching state and policy specific papers for legislators; and + Participating during the event to coordinate activities and take notes during breakout groups and presentations. Percentage Of Time20 Job Duty CategoryOther Research and Content Creation Duty/Responsibility Responsible for completing research and analysis projects as assigned and assisting with CNEE marketing and social media outreach, including but not limited to: + Co-authoring original CNEE research reports; + Creating content for conference presentations and maintaining CNEE graphics related to policy trends; + Developing talking points and memos for conference presentations; + Updating and creating web pages on CNEE websites; + Working with CNEE staff and website designers to update and maintain website content; + Checking web pages for broken links and formatting issues; + Communicating CNEE papers and events via social media platforms, as assigned; and + Reporting on work performed and communicating any issues to CNEE management.
