Summary of Job Duties:This position supports the Principal Investigator in conducting biomedical research, particularly through mass spectrometry-based methods, to study human exposure to environmental chemicals, diet and nutrition's effects on health, and lipid metabolism in cardiovascular disease. The role requires at least six years of experience in an analytical laboratory, with expertise in sample preparation, submission, and data analysis, as well as knowledge of LC and GC mass spectrometry. Preferred qualifications include experience working in regulated lab environments and scientific report preparation. The Research Associate will also assist with extramurally-funded lab animal research, including animal husbandry, tissue collection, and surgical procedures. Responsibilities focus on performing experiments, preparing samples, and analyzing data using GC and LC mass spectrometry.
Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Bioscience or related field plus six (6) years of research experience required.

Responsibilities:

Performs research experiments, record keeping, tissue collection and analysis, surgical procedures, sample preparation from tissues and biofluids using liquid and solid phase extraction methods, sample evaporation, reconstitution of samples, preparation of quality control and calibration samples.

Submit samples for analysis using GC and LC coupled mass spectrometry, data analysis and reporting.

Maintain lab equipment.

Maintain lab supplies & materials.

Perform laboratory ordering.

Perform other duties as assigned.


Salary Information:

63400-69800 Commensurate with education & experience.
