Research Associate in the Division of Science [Psychology] - Dr. John Sprouse

The Sprouse laboratory in the Program in Psychology in the Division of Science, New York University Abu Dhabi seeks to recruit a research assistant to work on the mechanisms underlying the syntax of human languages.
The successful applicant will work closely with the Principal Investigator on a project on the syntactic structure of Egyptian Arabi. The project will explore both the grammar and processing of long-distance dependencies in Egyptian Arabic (among other phenomena). The successful applicant will work with the PI to design the experiments, develop the language materials, recruit participants (native speakers of Egyptian Arabic), analyze the results, and prepare publications. The candidate will also work with the PI and other members of the lab on any associated administrative tasks that help facilitate the project.
Applicants must have completed a BA in Psychology at NYUAD, have taken PSYCH-UH 2218 Language Science and PSYCH-UH 3612EQ Lab in Language Science, and have completed training on the MEG machine. Excellent experimental and syntactic analysis skills are required. Native or near-native like ability in Egyptian Arabic is required.
