Job Summary
Dr. Sharrelle Barber’s research team seeks a Research Associate to assist with data analysis and manuscript development. This work is in support of an NIH-funded research project that seeks to understand the role of changing neighborhood environments in shaping cardiometabolic outcomes among African American adults in the Jackson, Mississippi metropolitan area. The project is based at the Urban Health Collaborative at the Dornsife School of Public Health. The research associate will work 10 hours per week beginning in January 2025, continuing through June 2025. This position is fully remote.
Essential Functions
Manuscript writing. Development of graphs and figures. Background literature review and data analysis. Participate in meetings with supervisor and research team, as needed.Required Qualifications
Master’s degree in Public Health or related field At least 2 years’ relevant experiencePreferred Qualifications
Skilled in quantitative data analysis. Understanding of geospatial analysis methods. Strong writing skills. Ability to work well in teams and independently. Interest in structural racism and urban health research in Black communities.Location

This is a part-time temporary position classified as non-exempt. The pay offered is based on the successful candidate’s qualifications and experience, department budget, and an internal equity review.
