Research Communications Assistant

Summary of Work Activities and Responsibilities:

The Research Communications Assistant V provides support in the creation of research communication materials that showcase the University’s research initiatives. The position also provides administrative support to the section’s operations.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

I. Research Communications Services Support

Works with researchers in producing engaging and informative content for digital platforms and the University research website, subject to review of the Research Communications Head Consults researchers to gather information and details about the research projects Drafts articles/write-ups on current and upcoming research projects Supports the creation of printed, electronic, and video research communication materials that showcases the University’s research efforts, initiatives, and achievements while ensuring all materials align with the University’s branding guidelines subject to the review and endorsement of the University Marketing and Communications Office (UMCO) Layouts and creates designs for printed and electronic research communication materials (e.g., brochures, advertisements, etc.) Coordinates with third-party suppliers on the planning to production of video materials, ensuring submissions are followed and the necessary logistical preparations are made Ensures Office social media accounts ands University research website are updated by posting relevant content on the University’s research initiatives Researches best practices on techniques and methods used to monitor media reach, engagement, and impact, and provides recommendations on possible improvements

II. Administrative Support

Assists in maintaining the Institutional Repository (Archīum) by gathering and arranging research outputs and publications in accordance with the established standards and guidelines Assists in organizing events and meetings related to research communications by handling the logistical preparations, including scheduling, setup, and coordination of participants Assists the Research Communications Head in scheduling, organizing, and following up on tasks and activities, as needed

III. Performs other work-related tasks as may be required by the immediate supervisor and authorized representative
