The Research Coordinator will recruit and onboard research participants, new staff, and trainees. This position will serve as the main point of contact for project-related inquiries both outside and within the Institute. This staff member works directly with stakeholders, grant collaborators, community partners, and research staff to accomplish the goals of given research project(s). The incumbent will monitor systems and processes; provide updates; ensure data accuracy; support the training functions; and assist in the preparation of grant submissions and progress reports.
Responsibilities1. Attend clinics, screen medical records for potential participants, consent study participants, and carry out research-related procedures with participants
2. Monitor, schedule, and execute study visits for participants.
3. Maintain a good working knowledge of all assigned protocols/projects and their reporting requirements. Work directly with the principal investigators and other study coordinators as applicable to execute multiple study protocols. Adhere to all protocol and regulatory requirements to ensure the validity of the clinical research data.
4. Assist with the amendment of existing protocols and/or development of new study protocols as needed.
5. Collect/obtain and process specimens (e.g., blood, saliva, urine, etc.) as needed according to protocols.
6. Assist with reconciling study related invoices as needed.
7. Manage, maintain, and organize all participant binders, study binders, regulatory paperwork, documentation for the study.
8. Assist the principal investigators with audit preparation, study advertisement, implementation of recruitment strategies, preparation of reports for the Institutional Review Board (IRB), and handling and documenting IRB correspondence.
9. Perform data collection and entry, and assist with database management.
10. Write up case reports for publication.
11. Attend educational lectures and conferences as appropriate.
12. Conduct outreach to increase external scholarly engagement with clinical research
13. Inform Johns Hopkins School of Medicine students about opportunities to be involved in clinical research and publication at Kennedy Krieger Institute.
14. Establish structured programming to connect visiting scholars, students, residents, and fellows with ongoing clinical research projects at Kennedy Krieger.
15. Leverage social media platforms to create engaging content such as on LinkedIn, Twitter, and Instagram to share research findings, success stories, and opportunities to join research efforts.
16. Develop and administer questionnaires to patients for trials as applicable.
EDUCATION:
Bachelor’s degree is required.
EXPERIENCE:
Minimum one year of related research or clinical experience strongly preferred.
