The Research Data Warehouse Analytics Team Lead is critical for advancing both data discovery for translational research and overall research capability at OHSU. We are actively seeking a candidate with experience in healthcare data (such as: electronic health records, wearables, social determinants of health, among others) to fulfill the role of Team Lead/Lead Analyst in our Research Data Warehouse (RDW) as part of the Informatics team. Our team is expanding to design and construct the next generation of the Research Data Warehouse at OHSU. The next generation RDW will support OHSU and the broader community to develop technologies for data retrieval and enable applications in research data analysis such as machine learning, and artificial intelligence applications for clinical research. For this critical role on the team, we are looking for a Lead Analyst with experience in the following areas, but not limited to: data quality, SQL, electronic health record data, relational data structures, and data analytics tools in the cloud. Experience in a cloud computing environment such as AWS, Azure, distributed computing/high performance computing is preferred.

 

In this position you need the ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with clinical researchers and data warehousing staff to translate scientific questions into database queries and result sets. The RDW Lead Analyst will be key personnel interacting with clinician scientists and translational researchers to determine data requirements needed to fulfill scientific research needs and ensure that data requests are in compliance with all applicable regulatory requirements. The position will require supervising the analyst team and creating new processes for efficient data delivery systems. Additional responsibilities include implementation of new data sources (e.g., wearables, social determinants of health) and structures into RDW, training clinicians in proper research data handling procedures and collaboratively interacting with researchers and staff. ETL knowledge and experience is a plus. Experience within an Oracle or MS SQL Server environment and candidates who have obtained a certification from Epic for Clarity, Caboodle, or other data oriented Epic certification are preferred.

Function/Duties of Position Lead role in interactions with researchers and data warehousing staff to formulate and translate broad scientific questions into data requirements, functional specifications, database queries and result sets for specific research projects and research initiatives. Create new processes and streamline data delivery for scalable solutions.Work with RDW Engineers for improvement of data curation pipeline and coordinate with the Biostatics group under the mentorship of Informatics Co-Directors as required.Technical writing on RDW data retrieval pipeline, architecture and models and applications.As a team member on the Research Data Warehouse, collaborate with the other members of the Informatics team, OHSU, and the CTSA consortium to expand our research analytical capabilities, methods, and toolkits. Participate in user groups to share analysis tips and techniques. Assist with design and development of requirements for the definition, validation, and standardization of data related to the research data warehouse and cohort discovery systems. Disseminate research data warehousing learnings and best practices through research posters, publications, etc. as part of the Research Data Warehouse (RDW) team.Work with end-users to define and document data/business requirements for database design, data extraction, and analysis.Responsible for documentation of data sources, data elements, and other information about RDW data and identify, promote, and maintain data quality.Ensure and document all regulatory requirements are met for OCTRI RDW data requests.Supervise other members of the Analytics team. Required Qualifications

PhD in relevant field AND 3 years of relevant experience

OR

Master's Degree in relevant field AND 5 years of relevant experience

OR

Bachelor's Degree in relevant field AND 7 years of relevant experience

5 years of relevant experience OR

Demonstrated working knowledge of SQL

Experience in the techniques used for ensuring data quality

Experience in methods/application development for clinical application using programming languages (python, Matlab) and informatics techniques.

Extremely organized self-starter with strong sense of priority, urgency, attention to detail, and commitment to deadlines

Superior communication skills (written, verbal, and presentation).

Ability to interact with investigators and data warehousing staff to translate broad scientific questions into database queries and result sets

Must be sufficiently adaptable to accept and perform in a timely and effective manner, work assignments that are outside the normal (day-to-day) routine

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with research design and data analysis

Experience with Oracle, MS SQL Server

Experience with BI tools

Knowledge and/or application of national health information standards

Experience Epic Clarity and or Epic Caboodle Data Warehouse

Expereince in on-premise and cloud technoloiges (e.g., Apache Spark, Hadoop, Tensorflow)

Epic Clarity Proficiency or Certification in a specific subject area (Inpatient, Ambulatory, HB, PB, etc.)

Epic Caboodle Data model Proficiency or Certification
