**Job Summary**

We are currently seeking a **Research and Development Portfolio Intern for Summer Semester 2025** . This position is **hybrid** located in **Columbus, Ohio** .
The R&D Portfolio Intern position at Battelle is an opportunity for technically minded, business-savvy students to work with one of Battelle’s Technical Fellows who leads upwards of 75 seedling independent research and development (IR&D) projects each year. The R&D Portfolio Intern will assist the Tech Fellow in assessing the technology resulting from these projects and help to identify potential applications and technology gaps for those that are most promising. Project areas include those impacting all of Applied Science & Technology at Battelle, including National Security, Environment and Infrastructure, and Health.
**Responsibilities**
+ Researching current IR&D projects at Battelle and performing technology assessment against competitive technologies
+ Writing brief summaries of ongoing IR&D projects including their scope, benefits, and next steps
+ Researching and investigating roadmaps or overview documents from the Department of Defense and trade journals
+ Identifying opportunities for IR&D projects to support current and/or future needs of government and/or commercial clients
+ Other duties as assigned.
**Key Qualifications**
+ Must be currently pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in Physical Sciences/Engineering discipline.
+ Must have at least one year of college coursework complete at the start of the internship.
+ Related work experience (paid or unpaid) is preferred.
+ Solid verbal and written communication skills.
+ Able to work independently and as part of a team.
+ A positive attitude and willingness to take on technical challenges.
+ Must be comfortable working across multiple areas, handling uncertainty and asking questions
+ Working knowledge of Microsoft Office software including Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint.
+ Must be available to work 40 hours/week.
+ Applicants for this position must be a U.S. Person, as defined by U.S. export control laws.
