Research & Evaluation Manager

The Program Evaluation and Research Unit (PERU) is dedicated to conducting high-quality implementation, evaluation, and research work across Pennsylvania and the United States to facilitate each patient or community member's ability to achieve optimal health, well-being, recovery and choice. PERU is located in the School of Pharmacy's Department of Pharmacy Therapeutics.

Successful candidates will have the ability to work with a multi-disciplinary program team to solve complex problems in the areas of Substance Use Disorder Treatment and Prevention, as well as Injury and Suicide Prevention. Experience working with ethnically and culturally diverse populations is preferred. A commitment to achieving healthcare diversity, equity, and inclusion is a must.

Leads and manages data collection activities and assists with crafting technical reports and other documentation. The Research Evaluation Manager for the University of Pittsburgh School of Pharmacy Program Evaluation and Research Unit (PERU) contributes to research and program evaluation initiatives focused on a range of public health challenges. These challenges include substance use, suicide prevention, and other complex healthcare issues with project funding from various federal, state, and foundation sources. The Research Evaluation Manager:

Supports the design and implementation of various research, intervention, and educational development and evaluation projects. Develops logic models, evaluation plans, and data analytic plans.Works collaboratively with project team to ensure project deadlines are met. Performs and monitors implementation activities, and prepares data assessments and measures for use and distribution. Works to disseminate research findings and program models in both academic and non-academic outlets.Leads and manages data collection activities, including development of data collection tools and protocols.Assists with the creation and distribution of proposals, technical reports, presentations, and manuscripts.Develops thoughtful research strategies and detailed project goals. Identifies research opportunities and devises creative approaches for research application.Monitors projects for quality and accuracy and ensures adherence to timelines and budgetary restrictions.Consults with external partners and funders throughout the project’s duration. Maintains effective community relationships with agencies, faculty, and funders.Helps secure project funding and contributes to grant proposal initiatives.

Must have experience with or knowledge of a broad range of research designs, especially those used in action and participatory research, and in developing program evaluation plans addressing logic models, strategic and program evaluation questions, data collection methods, analysis and reporting. Strong organizational and interpersonal skills and business etiquette is required.
