Position Overview & Responsibilities: \n

This position will assist in managing the implementation and data collection for the assigned summer trial. The duties of this job require maintaining established standards of quality and accuracy. However, due to the nature of field trials, technical problem solving within a defined span of control is oftentimes necessary. Absent that, collaborative communication and coordination with other available, more technical resources should be exercised. \n

A sense of urgency, consistent achievement of quality standards, and a self-disciplined approach to achieving results are necessary for successful job performance.\n

Major Areas of Accountability:\n\nAssist with trial design.\nResponsible to provide trial summaries with the conclusions and results and present this data to designated individuals.\nWorking with farm personnel on data collection protocols.\nWeighing pigs and feed.\nFeeding experimental animals.\nTagging and tattooing animals.\nManaging the data collection process.\nSupporting the research barn staff in daily chores of the research pigs\n\n

Education, Training, and Experience Requirements:\n\nMust be currently enrolled in a post-secondary agriculture-related educational program. \nPrior swine experience preferred; ideal candidate will have completed a prior introductory Swine Production internship.\nAbility to work in a fast-paced environment. Display a high level of respect to team members and animals. Ability to demonstrate strong interpersonal skills. Ability to exercise independent thinking and judgment, as well as communicating needs to the Nutrition and Research Coordinator. \n\n
