Research Intern - Algorithms Group: Reasoning Abilities of LLMs

Research Internships at Microsoft provide a dynamic environment for research careers with a network of world-class research labs led by globally-recognized scientists and engineers, who pursue innovation in a range of scientific and technical disciplines to help solve complex challenges in diverse fields, including computing, healthcare, economics, and the environment.

The Algorithms group at MSR Redmond is looking for doctoral students to work on improving the reasoning abilities of the large language models (LLMs) (like the o1 model) for domains such as math, coding, and planning. In particular, we are exploring ideas based on self-improvement and reinforcement learning (RL) training. Our Researchers and Research Interns have been conducting influential research published in top-tier venues such as NeurIPS, ICML, ICLR.
