Research Intern - Behavioral Science

The Research Intern position in Dr. Reitzel's lab Tobacco Health Equity and Cancer Prevention Science Laboratory will offer several projects that the intern can choose to be involved with, according to their specific needs and interests. This includes assisting in the conduct of research education programs for trainees. Common intern duties include: attending training grants' project meetings; meeting direct mentor/supervisor or her designees on a regular basis, and attending other meetings as invited; planning, conducting and documenting notes in the workplace to help with assignments given, including compiling productivity updates from training activities into spreadsheets; assisting with website updates; designing materials like certificates and newsletters; managing resources on STUDY-CANVAS to keep trainees informed and engaged; assisting with event planning by coordinating logistics; and ordering appreciation gifts and swag items for mentors and trainees; moderating and managing weekly expert seminar speaker sessions; researching and compiling institutional training opportunities and resources; and interacting with trainees to connect them with institutional training opportunities and resources.

• The intern will develop organizational skills by compiling productivity updates from scholars into spreadsheets, ensuring accurate tracking of progress and engagement, and other activities that require attention to detail and accuracy and that contribute to reports to funders.
• The intern will gain hands-on experience in website maintenance by assisting with updates and enhancing their technical proficiency. The intern will strengthen their design and communication skills by creating visually appealing materials such as certificates and newsletters.
• The intern will benefit from the mentorship of experienced researchers and staff in various facets of research to determine the relevance of a career in healthcare to his/her/their career goals.
• The intern will improve their ability to manage educational resources by organizing and updating content on STUDY-CANVAS, an online course, keeping trainees informed and engaged.
• The intern will enhance event planning and coordination abilities by managing logistics for team events.
• The intern will develop research and decision-making skills by assisting with academic products and reviewing and compiling relevant information as requested to assist with day-to-day project administration.
ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
Applicant must hold a bachelor's degree, obtained within 1 year of application.
Applicant must have previous research experience.
