Company OverviewSiemens Foundational Technology (FT), the central R&D department of Siemens, plays a pivotal role in shaping the future of our products. Acting as a strategic partner, FT supports Siemens' executive units with a primary research focus on future technologies for industry, infrastructure, mobility, and healthcare.
We need your help to conduct fundamental and applied research in the field of understanding engineering decisions for complex systems. You will be collaborating with leading academic institutions and government agencies as part of this role. Our goal is to model how engineers understand and solve the most complex design challenges by leveraging AI techniques and mimic human reasoning capabilities! You will collaborate with the research team at Siemens Foundational Technology in Princeton, NJ.
In this role you will work on-site in Princeton, NJ. The position is a full-time position for at least 3 months and remote work is not available.
The challenge:During this internship, the candidate will experience the excitement and challenges of industrial research and be part of a world class team. This person will:Contribute to the task of developing knowledge synthesis and reasoning framework.Contribute to the task of developing autonomous decision-making agent in complex environments.Work on fast-paced co-creation project with quickly changing requirements in the field of program analysis and synthesis.Work on low-TRL research projects.Develop prototypes and proof of concepts, as appropriate.Develop demonstrators and participate in technology transition to business.Create technical reports.Create academic publications.
Education and Experience:Required:PhD candidate students in Computer Science, Computational Cognitive Science, Applied MathematicsResearch specialization in the program synthesis and/or knowledge discovery from unstructured information.Research specialization in decision-making methods such as reinforcement learning.Experience with programming languages such as C++, Python, R, or MATLAB.Preferred:Familiar with techniques in probabilistic programming and probabilistic graphical models. Familiar with operating on graph-structured data.
Basic Qualifications:Experience in advancing AI/ML techniques including core contributions to open-source libraries and frameworks in computer vision.Advanced programming skills in Python, C, or MATLAB.Proficiency in English, both written and verbal.
Preferred Skills:Strong analytical and problem-solving skillsAbility to work independently and as part of a team.Familiarity with large reasoning models and handling multiple modalities.Proficiency in Python and PyTorch..Knowledge of advanced statistical methods and data visualization techniques.Strong organizational and project management skills.
