The Center for Home Care Policy & Research at the Visiting Nurse Service of New York is looking to hire a part-time field interviewer to assist an ongoing, multi-year study examining the long-term psychosocial development, quality of life and well-being of transgender and nonbinary (TGNB). Participants will be recruited from patients who are part of the Gender Affirming Program (GAP) at VNSNY. Known as the GAP study – the project is a longitudinal, prospective study that uses mixed quantitative and qualitative methodologies. It is being conducted in collaboration with a team at Columbia University School of Nursing (CUSON).
Responsibilities
The research interviewer will recruit participant patients into the GAP study and conduct survey interviews. The position offers current students an opportunity to get hands-on experience with conducting primary data collection for health services research studies, with a specific focus on transgender health and home care-centric research.
Call home care patients to screen them over the phone and recruit them into the studyConduct survey interviews and administer the consent protocol Conduct survey review and data entryQualifications
Strong communication and organizational skills
Excellent at engaging people on the phone
Familiarity with LGBTQ+ community or Transgender health strongly preferred
Experience in social science or health research a plus
Knowledge of home care a plus
Experience in cold calling or customer service calls a plus
·Bilingual (English/Spanish) verbal and reading fluency preferred but not required
Able to commit to project for at least 6 months is required
Needs to be comfortable talking with adults who are undergoing post-surgical recovery is required
