The DuPont Corian(R) Design business is seeking a Research Investigator with experience in the synthesis, characterization, and processing of polymers and small organic molecules for the Corian® business. This position will reside in the Research and Development group supporting the Corian® business, and is located at the Yerkes Plant Site in Buffalo, New York
Candidate should have a strong background in organic chemistry as well as in the synthesis and characterization of polymers and polymer composites. Familiarity with a broad range of polymers is anticipated. The ability to design experiments and communicate results is critical.In addition, the candidate should have a basic understanding of structure-property relationships and polymer physics and should have the knowledge to pursue routes of polymer modification as needed.Experience with polymer composites is highly desired.Experience working in a multidisciplinary team environment and have demonstrated the ability to lead program segments in order to meet team objectives.Experience working in a manufacturing environment and/or with an operations team, particularly toward implementation of a chemistry-driven process change or new product development.Qualifications:
Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry, Polymer Chemistry, or related discipline.Recent graduate or experienced in Ph.D. Organic or Polymer Chemist.Fundamental understanding of organic chemistry – physical, mechanistic, and synthetic.Broad understanding of a variety of chain-growth and condensation polymerization systems, both in terms of reactions and kinetics.Experience with characterization methods for polymers including DSC, TGA, GPC, microscopy, and rheometry.Optional, but desirable -- interest in people leadership opportunities.Join our Talent Community to stay connected with us!
