Job Summary

Summary<br>Responsible for maintaining laboratory equipment, organizing and preparing samples, conducting experiments, and recording and analyzing data.<br><br>Does this position require Patient Care?<br>No<br><br>Essential Functions<br>-Perform laboratory experiments following established protocols and procedures. <br>
-Prepare and handle samples, reagents, and solutions, ensuring accuracy and adherence to safety guidelines. <br>
-Operate and maintain laboratory equipment and instruments, conducting routine calibration and troubleshooting as needed. <br>
-Record experimental data accurately and maintain organized records of procedures, protocols, and results. <br>
-Compile and analyze data using appropriate statistical and analytical methods. <br>
-Assist in data interpretation and presentation, contributing to research findings and reports. <br>


 

Qualifications

Education
Bachelor's Degree required. Degree in Biology or related field preferred.



Licenses and Credentials

Experience
Prior laboratory experience, either through academic coursework, internships, or employment. 1-2 years preferred

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Strong theoretical and practical knowledge of laboratory techniques and procedures.
- Familiarity with common laboratory equipment and instruments used in research experiments.
- Proficiency in data collection, analysis, and scientific software tools.
- Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot technical issues.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively convey experimental procedures, results, and challenges.

POSITION SUMMARY:

Performs routine laboratory tests and procedures as directed, with supervision.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Performs a variety of study tests and procedures according to prescribed protocols and assigned schedules.Collects data via utilizing research equipment, structured interviews, library research, data processing and/or other research techniques.Records data according to project requirements.Processes acquired data and assists in its summarization using standard scientific techniques including computer programs.Makes periodic reports of project status to supervisor.Assists in care and maintenance of equipment, supplies, and work area. Alerts supervisor to equipment and supply needs.Performs clerical duties incidental to research tasks as required.Attends meetings as required.Enhances professional growth and development through educational programs, seminars, and/or conferences.Performs other research related functions as required or directed.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

1.         Work requires a bachelors’ degree. Requires intermediate math skills and ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry; apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form; .deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations; read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals; write routine reports and correspondence; and speak effectively before groups of employees. Spanish speaking preferred.

Potential Exposure to Blood Borne Pathogens. Job may require performance of tasks that involve potential for exposure to blood, body fluids, or tissues.
