Research Manager
We are seeking a **_Research Manager_** (RPM) to independently manage the day-to-day activities of NIMH-funded research to conduct a randomized, controlled trial testing the effectiveness of a mental health app for teenagers experiencing mental distress in California public schools. The research will involve working directly with the app company, Appa Health. Activities will include managing outreach and recruitment efforts, ensuring parental permission for minors and assent/consent to participate in the trial for youth, implementing online data collection procedures, including implementing surveys and mobile assessments, and administrative tasks including data quality checks and IRB correspondence. This project requires persistence, strong attention to detail, and for the individual to be self-motivated and have the ability to solve problems. This position would ideally require at least a 2-year commitment. Manuscript authorship and other research opportunities are available pending the candidate’s interest. Strong communication and organizational skills are absolute requirements for this position. This position will require interaction with a variety of stakeholders in the tech industry and public school system. **Specific Duties & Responsibilities** + Providing key support for the Principal Investigator and her team in meeting project deliverables. + Working collaboratively with the PI at Appa Health. + Working with collaborative partners to gather and consolidate data. + Collecting, tabulating, and interpreting complex project data as required. + Steering project plans including timelines, resource needs, assessments, and evaluation rubrics to ensure attainment of outcomes, project goals, and activities. + Directing staff, faculty, students, partners, and key stakeholders with essential job functions. + Managing research assistants to ensure project objectives and deliverables are achieved. + Providing high-level administrative support (e.g., preparing invoices, reports, memos, letters, and other documents using word processing, spreadsheet, database, or presentation software, etc.). + Overseeing the implementation and execution of IRB protocols associated with complex research projects. + Overseeing evaluation data collection and analysis. + Overseeing the preparation of IRB, DSMB, and sponsor reports. + Overseeing planning and coordinating meetings (e.g., logistics, attendee check-ins, preparation of materials, creating project plans, developing agendas, follow-up between meetings to move the project to conclusion, etc.). + Overseeing and monitoring the preparation of high-quality deliverables during the life cycle of the project (e.g., workflow diagrams, policies and procedures manuals, project timeline documents and throughput reports, etc.). + Participating in manuscript preparation. + Participating in grant writing with the Principal Investigator. **Special Knowledge, Skills & Abilities** + Demonstrated ability to independently manage and prioritize complex assignments, ensuring timely completion of tasks, including the execution of research protocols and adherence to IRB procedures. + Excellent organizational skills. + Excellent verbal and written communication skills. + Expertise in the use of Microsoft Office applications, Outlook, Teams, Planner etc. + Experience using bibliographic software including Mendeley and EndNote. + Experience using RedCap for online survey management. + Familiarity with survey research and basic data collection procedures. + Experience with youth development and randomized, controlled trial design. + Familiarity with mobile device interventions. **Minimum Qualifications** + Bachelor's Degree in related discipline. + Five years related experience, including demonstrated supervisory or lead responsibilities. **Preferred Qualifications** + Master’s Degree in public health, psychology, social work or related discipline.
