**Position Summary**
At Weill Cornell Medicine, our physicians provide compassionate care to prevent, diagnosis and manage infectious diseases in transplant recipients and patients with hematologic malignancies. Our infectious disease experts collaborate with oncology and transplant specialists, ensuring patients receive comprehensive and coordinated care. As one of the leading academic medical centers in the country, Weill Cornell Medicine has an infectious disease clinical research unit (https://medicine.weill.cornell.edu/tx-oncology-id-cru) that offers clinical trials and give patients access to new and cutting-edge treatments for infection that may not be available elsewhere.
Under guidance from the investigators, the Research Nurse Practitioner supervises and coordinates infectious disease clinical research trials for immunocompromised patients.
Schedule: Monday - Friday, 9-5
**Job Responsibilities**
+ Acts as a liaison between inpatient and outpatient units for study patients: works with referring physicians and their staff to ensure continuity of care and continuous recruitment of patients; collects pretreatment and on-study data required.
+ Administers appropriate drugs as deemed necessary by the protocols: works with pharmacy to insure proper handling of drugs and that protocol rules are met.
+ Assists laboratory technician with phlebotomy processing and shipping as needed..
+ Assists outreach coordinator with recruitment of new patients to protocols by reviewing eligibility and participating in outreach activities as deemed necessary.
+ Assists physicians with completion of applications for clinical studies; assists in the preparation and maintenance of appropriate consent forms for each study.
+ Responsible for various aspects of patient treatment protocols; evaluates and performs assessments (medical history/physical exams) as deemed necessary; performs patient education; responsible for adverse event reporting; monitors patients on studies.
+ Reviews and completes protocol history sheets, flow sheets, study follow-up reports, patient evaluation forms, protocol case report forms and other relevant forms and surveys.
+ Works with data managers on proper data collection and interpretation of clinical data; reviews protocol procedures; keeps up to date on institutional regulations relevant to protocols; assists with QA/QM; participates in monitoring and site visits.
**Education**
+ Master’s of Science Degree in Nursing
**Experience**
Experience working with patient population, specified in trial preferred.
Prior experience with management of research protocols and prior supervisory or coordinator experience preferred.
**Knowledge, Skills and Abilities**
+ Excellent organizational and communication skills.
+ Maintains awareness of hospital policies and procedures, as well as good clinical practices standards.
**Licenses and Certifications**
+ NYS Registered Nurse Practitioner (NP) license and current NP registration
+ NYS Registered Professional Nurse license and current RN registration
+ Applicable National Board Certification (such as ANCC, PNCB, etc)
+ BLS certification, issued by the American Heart Association.
+ Infection Control Certificate.
