The Center for LGBT Health Research within the University of Pittsburgh’s School of Public Health is seeking a Program Coordinator responsible for providing critical support across the Center’s research activities, combining program management, resource development, and administrative oversight to amplify the Center’s impact. This role requires advanced problem-solving abilities, high autonomy, and the ability to make significant decisions independently. The Program Coordinator ensures alignment with institutional goals and institutional policies.
The Program Coordinator plays a vital role in advancing the Center for LGBT Health Research’s mission by ensuring that research activities run smoothly and achieve meaningful impact. This role is intended to bridge program management, resource development, and administrative support, providing the structure and strategy needed to sustain and grow the Center’s research initiatives.
Preferred Qualifications
3 years of experience in program management, research coordination, or administrative support, ideally within an academic or nonprofit setting.Demonstrated experience in resource development, donor relations, or grant management to support program sustainability.Experience supporting and guiding staff in completing daily tasks and responsibilities.Strong familiarity with institutional policies, compliance requirements, or quality control standards within research environments.Proficiency in budgeting and financial oversight, with experience managing and monitoring multiple budgets to ensure alignment with funding and program goals.Demonstrated ability to develop or improve business processes to enhance administrative efficiency.Manages and ensures effective research project completion. Oversees complex and concurring projects and supervises team. Coordinates research operations, answers inquiries, and prepares research reports and materials. Designs and implements an organizational system, quality control procedures, and systems for maximum utilization of project resources. Implements communications plans, obtain applicable regulatory approvals, and ensure adherence to regulations, policies, and procedures.
Manages and ensures effective research project completion. Oversees complex and concurring projects and supervises team. Coordinates research operations, answers inquiries, and prepares research reports and materials. Designs and implements an organizational system, quality control procedures, and systems for maximum utilization of project resources. Implements communications plans, obtain applicable regulatory approvals, and ensure adherence to regulations, policies, and procedures.
Coordinate and schedule large meetings, events, and logistics for speakers and collaborators; support the administrative aspects of meetings with school and university leadership.Organize both in-person and virtual community meetings and engagement events.Manage Center programs and special projects, including pilot studies and training programs aimed at boosting research activity; collaborate with faculty and community partners to promote Center initiatives.Assist Center faculty with research administration, coordinating with grants administrators to fulfill project needs; oversee budgets for core faculty projects in collaboration with university grants management teams.Collaborate with Center leadership to develop effective business processes and protocols for administrative efficiency.Partner with Pitt and SPH communications teams to develop and maintain the Center’s online presence; launch a monthly newsletter and design a comprehensive communications plan for internal and external stakeholders.
